TIDINGS FROM THE EAST,
Brethren,
It seems that spring has finally sprung. The Robins are back, the grass is green (mine has
already been cut twice), and motorcycles have started replacing some of the cars and trucks
on the road. Not a bad plan, considering gas at $3.50 per gallon. Spring has sprung at
Plymouth Rock #47 as well: Dave Melton has our grill polished up, our golf aficionados have
hit the links and our kitchen has bloomed (sorry). Bad puns aside, our new kitchen looks
GREAT! Hats off to all those hard working Brothers that made it happen. I’m afraid to list your
names for fear of forgetting somebody, but you know who you are, and so do we. Thanks
again for you hard work on the Lodge’s behalf. We should be able to start booking rentals
now and hopefully make some much-needed $$$. If you haven’t had a chance to see our new
kitchen area, it would make a good excuse to stop by and see us.
We have a couple of new candidates/brothers working their way towards membership in our
Lodge and have at least two more asking for petitions. One of these requests came from the
Grand Lodge’s Website and the other was referred to us by a Shriner who has a friend that
lives in Plymouth. Looks like we will be having a busy summer. The more, the merrier!
Kim Slessor put on a class for CPR and AED use for the Lodge. I was pleased to see a pretty
good turn out for this event. Many Lodge members brought family members and friends to
get their Certification. This was important training, as we now have our own AED
(defibrillator) in our dining area. Techniques for assisting a choking victim were also
covered. Thanks, Kim for all your hard work! Thanks also to Henry Ford Health Systems for
the use of the training equipment.
My most sincere get-well wishes go out to those Brothers who are ailing, and I pray for the
continued health and happiness of everyone else. Hope to see you in Lodge soon!
May God bless you all,
Jeff Slessor
Worshipful Master
