TIDINGS FROM THE EAST,

                   Brethren,

I hope everyone had a safe and happy
Christmas season. This time of year always seems to bring
out  the best in people, and good friends and family gather
to share good times.

This time of year also brings with it a very special event in
our Lodge: Installation of Officers. This year’s Installation
went very well I thought, and Plymouth Rock has a new
crop of officers who are ready to give their best efforts to
see our Lodge grow and improve. I would estimate about
50 or so people attended and were treated to some
excellent vittles and great fellowship.

I am very pleased and proud to say that the event was
attended by three generations of Slessor Masons. My
Father, Doug, who is in the process of transferring his
membership to Plymouth Rock from his former Lodge in
Ft. Myers Beach, FL, my son Stephen who is already a
member, and myself. This year we also had a Grand Piper
in attendance to add to the moment.

Thanks go to Dave Machin of Moslem Shrine’s
Highlanders Unit for his musical gift. Special thanks are in
order for my wife Kim, Al Booth, Sr., Dick and Lisa L’
Heureux, and Joe and Cara Polak. Without their hard work
and support, this event could not have happened. I am
also grateful to all those who acted as Grand Lodge
Officers. Their graciousness in filling these important roles
is much appreciated.

To those I may have forgotten to mention, I am sorry, as
everyone’s efforts made this a very special night for me
and my family.

The officers of Plymouth Rock # 47 are meeting prior to
our January Business Meeting to develop an agenda for
the coming year. Topics sure to be addressed are MI-Chips
Program, further developing our new Masonic Center to
enhance rental revenue and charitable contributions.

If you have any ideas for the Lodge you would like to share
with me please come to a meeting or contact me
personally. My sincere goal is to make Plymouth Rock
Lodge #47 a better Lodge. This will indeed be a challenge
as my predecessors have created a very tough act to follow.

I wish everyone a very happy, healthy and prosperous
2008. I hope to see you in Lodge soon!
